Domain Name Registration Process :

Below mentioned steps are to be followed to register your domain name :
  1. Determine if desirous Department/Organisation qualifies to receive a domain name under GOV.IN by reviewing the guidelines .

  2. Review the domain naming conventions and ensure that the desired domain name complies with the conventions.

  3. Check availability for the desired domain name.

  4. Register the Domain Name request using Online Registration Service.

  5. Follow the instruction for generating Authorization and Forwarding Letter online

  6. After Generating the Authorization and Forwarding Letter.Print the Letter without any modification on pre-printed official letter head of Signing Authority and upload scanned copy in PDF format on the Registry Site

  7. GOV.IN domain registry would confirm you for sending of letters in original. In case of any discrepancy, .GOV.IN domain registry would intimate you through email on your registered email addresses.

  8. Please note that original copy of the Authorization and Forwarding Letter is mandatory for processing domain registration.

  9. Submit original copy of Authorization and Forwarding Letters at the earliest but not later than 30 days of completing the online registration to the address given below otherwise the request will not be entertained and the domain name shall be blocked.

In case of Digitally Signed copy, there is no need of sending the printed copy of the letters.

On completion of domain registration process, GOV.IN domain registry would send confirmation email. You may Sign In to registry site to check the status of your domain. The GOV.IN domain registry will contact you if any additional information about the registration is required, prior to activation.
