Domain Name Renewal Process :

  • Check the Domain Name status through WHOIS query and collect the Domain details like ID, Expiration Date etc.

  • Follow the instruction for generating Authorization and Forwarding Letter online. Print the Letter without any modification on pre-printed official letter head of Signing Authority and upload scanned copy in PDF format on the Registry Site.

  • GOV.IN domain registry would confirm you for sending of letters in original.

  • Please note that original copy of the Authorization and Forwarding Letter is mandatory for processing domain name renewal.

  • In case of any discrepancy, .GOV.IN domain registry would inform you through email on your registered email addresses.

  • Submit original copy of Authorization and Forwarding Letters preferably 15 days before expiration date of your domain name.

General Instructions

  • At present, the Domain Name renewal is entertained for a maximum period of two years as per the policy.

  • The domain will be renewed only on receipt of Domain Name Renewal Request letter (complete in all respect) and provided all the necessary conditions are satisfied.

  • In case of non-receipt of authorization letter for renewal, the domain will be auto renewed for 1 year but in case the authorization letter do not reach the GOV.IN domain registry for 45 more days after expiry of the domain, the domain may be cancelled.
